Botox®

Botox® is an FDA approved method to minimize facial wrinkles caused from the underlying muscles responsible for facial movements. Botox® is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the nation. It is a quick procedure with over 10 years of use in the United States. It is very effective at temporarily minimizing the appearance of wrinkles including frown lines between the eyebrows and crow’s feet lines around the eyes. Botox® is delivered with a series of tiny injections, relaxing the muscles that underlie wrinkles and diminishing lines which make you appear tired or angry. Botox® may also be helpful for headaches and muscle spasms as well. My patients have appreciated the improvement in their appearance after treatment with Botox®

Even though Botox® is not a surgical treatment, it is important to choose an experienced and qualified physician to perform your Botox® treatment. We take time to talk with each patient to help them have the best outcome for their particular concerns and be happy with smoother, younger-looking skin. Botox® is the brand name for onabotulinum toxin A. It is an acetylcholine release inhibitor and neuromuscular blocking agent that is FDA approved for temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines and lateral canthal lines. It is contraindicated in patients with a hypersensitivity to the preparation or any component of the formulation and should not be used if there is an infection at the area of desired treatment. Manufacturer warnings and precautions include the risk of spread of effects, care should be taken in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease or neuromuscular disorders. Botox® is considered a class C medication in pregnancy as there are no adequate well-controlled studies of its use in pregnant women. It is not known whether Botox® is excreted in human milk.

Hyaluronic acid fillers

Hyaluronic acid fillers such as JUVÉDERM® are FDA approved to smooth the appearance of moderate to severe wrinkles around the nose and mouth. JUVÉDERM® is an injectable gel that is used in areas of the facial tissue where moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds occur. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is FDA approved for treatment to add volume to the cheek area and age related loss of volume in adults over the age of 21.
